KAAF University signs MOU with TIAST group from China

ENGINEERING STUDENTS TO BE MENTORED BY PROFESSORS FROM TIAST PARTNER UNIVERSITIES IN CHINA, AND TO BENEFIT FROM SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGES FROM TIAST GROUP

KAAF University College was founded in the year 2006 by Mr. Michael Aidoo and commenced student enrolment in the 2008/2009 academic year with the prime focus of providing academic progression for field engineers, and the training of well-rounded graduates in “Job-Ready” STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and Humanities programs.

Over the past 10 years KAAF University has become a well-known study destination for many prospective domestic and foreign students desirous of acquiring in-demand skills for the world of work. Today, products of KAAF University, having graduated successfully, are contributing to nation building as entrepreneurs, engineers, lawyers, nurses, administrators, bank tellers, etc. and as bread winners for their families. A significant number of our graduates have successfully passed the relevant examination to become members of professional licensing bodies such as the Ghana Bar Association, Nursing and Midwifery Council and Ghana Institute of Engineers.

The KAAF-AGENDA to rigorously pursue in-demand and job-ready training for the youth of Ghana and neighboring countries has culminated into active engagements and collaborations with like-minded local and international institutions to ensure high quality training of our students in their respective fields of study.

Beside our affiliation to mentors such as KNUST, GIMPA, UDS and UHAS (to offer seventeen (17) GTEC-accredited undergraduate programs to prospective students) we have also signed MOUs with Kantanka Center of Excellence; Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL); Water Research Institute (WRI); 37 Military Hospital, Accra; Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Accra; The Trauma & Specialist Hospital, Winneba; and Municipal Hospital, Winneba, etc. to ensure that our students undertake adequate industrial attachment, clinicals and practicals to acquire industry experience before they graduate.

Today’s MOU signing with TIAST Group of China, marks another major milestone for KAAF University College in general and the faculty and students of Civil, Electrical/Electronic and Mechanical Engineering in particular. A major milestone because, under this MOU, TIAST will not only offer our students hands-on training at their factories through a special program dubbed CIO – Cradle of Industrialization in Operation – but also our students will be mentored by Engineering Professors from TIAST Partner Universities in China and the top 5 brilliant and deserving students will benefit from TIAST scholarship package(s).

We are really excited to be part of Tiast’s vision to build 1,000 factories over the next ten years, create approximately one million jobs and generate about ten (10) billion dollars in income within the West African Sub region through the design, manufacture and installation of agricultural processing machinery, and provision of other core and product off-take services. This is because Tiast’s vision to integrate agriculture industrialization in Ghana and West Africa through science and technology is consistent with our agenda.

A crucial step toward building a platform to further explore student exchange has been achieved with the signing of this co-operative initiative. And we (at KAAF) have a firm believe that this strategic partnership with Tiast Group will provide an extra impetus that will enable us to offer “in-demand” training for “job-ready” programs, and strengthen our continuous commitment towards building a world class tertiary institution for the development of the requisite human capital with the skillset to meet the demands of today’s rapidly emerging technology driven work place.
